Certificate of the Printer / 22 x 28 in. Lithograph / By purposely using a stone matrix heavy enough that I was not be able to lift it by myself, I had others help me complete this piece. Normally, this aspect and the people helping would be an otherwise unnoticed part of the process; however, I made it an explicit part of the work. That is, I purposely created an artwork around the idea of authorship, toying with notions of inter-texts and cultural influences. In the piece, I claim that the people who merely executed some sort of physical labor are also co-authors of the work. The work is intended to become a ‘Certificate of the Printer’ certifying the people who helped lift the stone.
